Self-Help![]() Get Adobe Acrobat In the different categories you will come across some self-help leaflets that are available to download. These are in PDF format and (if it's not already on your computer) you will need to download Adobe Acrobat in order to view them. This is free and, once you have it, you won't need to download it again. To get it, click on the pink text - it should only take a few minutes. I think the difference between what we call mental health issues and what we call personal development issues is simply a matter of degree. I can find myself feeling irritated with people more than I'd like and look at this in therapy as an area of personal growth. By contrast, I can find myself getting angry all the time and acting on it with inappropriate aggression and violence. Equally, I can find myself feeling down in the dumps more than I'd like and, by contrast, can find myself constantly bursting into tears and not feeling able to get out of bed. We tend to term the more extreme of these states as being mental health issues. Often we've been unable to nip these in the bud - unable to catch them before they became too big. If you find yourself experiencing the more extreme end of these problems then I hope you will find some support from these pages. There are things here that you could try out to help yourself, just as a first port of call. If you find that this isn't enough, or that you just can't do it alone, then it might be that you need to access some professional support. Depending upon what you feel is right for you, you may wish to try psychotherapy & counselling, or you may wish to make an appointment with your G.P. |
